gay marriage is wrong

disagree, for multiple reasons:

  • first of all, i don’t think this can be called an unpopular opinion. perhaps on tumblr, but i know there are still a handful of bigots on this site. i’m not saying it’s a popular opinion; if anything, i’m calling it a deadlock at the moment.
  • second, i recently married another woman, just this past february, in fact, and it would be weird if i agreed with this opinion, no? to have my right to call her my wife taken away seems like a nightmare to me. she is as much of my wife as my mother used to be my father’s, and i see no reason why gender has to matter. (before someone mentions religion, i’d like to mention i was raised in a strong christian-catholic home.)
  • i’m a firm believer in equality, and marriage is no different. “but you just said you were raised in a christian and catholic household.” why should that mean i have to oppose gay marriage? i was taught to do two things as a child: to love unconditionally and to accept others. while the bible says man was made for woman, as woman was made for man, the bible also states a variety of things. we’re supposed to stone brides on the day of their wedding if they are not virgins. we’re supposed to stone our children when they disobey us. we’re not supposed to hate, or judge, for we have no place. we’re not supposed to lie, we’re not supposed to steal, we’re not supposed to do numerous things. and yet we do. i say this as a firm believer in god, but is the bible not outdated? or the old testament, at least? if we can see that certain aspects are already outdated, why can’t we see that others are as well?

FACTS ABOUT THINGS:

  • TUMBLR WAS GETTING TOO EXPENSIVE. THEIR OPTIONS WERE TO EITHER SELL IT OR SHUT IT DOWN.
  • YAHOO SAYS THEY’RE GOING TO LET IT RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT BUSINESS. IN THEORY, NOTHING WILL CHANGE EXCEPT FOR WHO’S LEGALLY OWNING IT.
  • NOW EVERYONE CALM DOWN.
